Today is the biggest competitive update Blitz Memory has had!
I want to make one distinction clear at the start: this is not a competition system built around head-to-head matches. Head-to-head is one part of it, and head-to-head itself is not new.
What is new is that BlitzMemory now has a broader competitive structure alongside training, with multiple ways to compete and multiple things to work toward.
You can train normally. You can enter a traditional competition where you compete against the material and the standings rather than a direct opponent. This is similar to how traditional memory competitions run.
You can enter a head-to-head bracket where you and another competitor choose events against each other. You can climb ratings and tiers through rated matches. Organized competitions award Circuit Points, and the system can support very different kinds of events over time.

That last part is what I am most excited about.
I did not want Blitz Memory to have one special tournament every once in a while and then nothing meaningful to compete in between them. The system can now support a one-event competition to see who can put up the best Images score, a traditional six-event Classic, a full head-to-head Cup using all 17 events, smaller regular competitions, larger special events, or just the rating ladder for people who prefer direct matches.
Training can stay training, but now there can be more competitive goals waiting on the other side of it.
THE FIRST TWO COMPETITIONS
These are one-time Founders events because they are the first competitions BlitzMemory has ever run.
FOUNDERS CLASSIC - TRADITIONAL COMPETITION
The Founders Classic is not head-to-head. It is a traditional competition where everyone competes during the event window and the standings compare the results.
The six events are:
Cards
Decimal
Names
Words
Images
Echopic
You receive three attempts at each event and your best attempt counts. Everyone competes on the same competition material, so the scores are directly comparable.
There is no opponent to schedule. Once the competition window opens, compete when it works for you. After registration closes, the Classic will run for one week.
FOUNDERS CUP - HEAD-TO-HEAD BRACKET
The Founders Cup is the direct-match format and uses the full 17-event BlitzMemory pool.
During a match, the two competitors alternate choosing events. Once an event has been competed in during that match, it cannot be selected again by that player. You can choose the disciplines you trust most, your opponent can do the same, and longer matches force both players to show more depth.
Match length increases as the tournament progresses, building toward a best-of-7 final. Competitors arrange their match times as they advance through the bracket.
REGISTRATION
Registration is open now for one week. It is open today 9/6/26 to 9/13/26.
Both competitions are free to enter so why not sign up for both!

THE RATING LADDER
Every rated versus result contributes to a rating for that discipline. Cards and Names are separate ratings because they are different skills.
There is also a combined rating built from your strongest rated events once you have enough rated results for it to mean something. 1v1 and four-player ratings are kept separate.
New ratings stay hidden through placement matches rather than showing a number built on almost no information, and matchmaking searches for competitors near your level before widening the range as you wait.
TIERS
There are seven competitive tiers:
Spark - Arc - Bolt - Surge - Storm - Tempest - Blitz
Tiers are based on where you actually sit on the active ladder rather than a permanent fixed rating cutoff. Buffers around the boundaries help prevent one result from bouncing you back and forth between two tiers.
SEASONS
Season 1 is live and runs through December 31.
At the end of a season, ratings soft-reset toward the middle rather than being completely erased. Your season history remains part of your competitive record, so each new season can be a fresh race without pretending the previous one never happened.
CIRCUIT POINTS
Organized competitions also feed a season-long Circuit Points table.
Different event scales are worth different amounts, so larger competitions can matter more than smaller ones. Circuit Points come from competition results, giving placements and participation across organized events something that can accumulate throughout the season. There might be special events where only the top circuit players can attend.
LEADERBOARDS, SPECTATING AND RESULTS
Personal-best leaderboards are separated by event and time format instead of treating every format as the same achievement.
Head-to-head competition matches can be watched live, scheduled matches can be visible before they happen, and afterwards the result can be reviewed item by item, including right and wrong answers and recall times.
THE FIRST PUBLIC RUN - AND I WANT YOUR FEEDBACK
This is the first time the complete competitive system is being used by a real public field.
It has had a lot of development testing, but real users can always find things development testing cannot: a strange edge case, a confusing button, a rule that needs clearer wording, a mobile layout issue, or something that simply does not feel as smooth as it should.
So I would genuinely appreciate everyone who enters, both because I want these first competitions to have a real field and because your experience will help make the system better.
If you find a bug or something does not work correctly, please tell me and I will work to get it fixed as quickly as I can.
But I also want recommendations. If you think a competition format could be better, a rule should work differently, something is missing, a page could be easier to understand, there is another kind of event you would like to see, or you simply have an idea that would improve the experience, please send it to me.
I want Blitz Memory’s competitive side to keep improving around the people actually using it, and I want community feedback to be part of how that happens.
The Founders Cup and Founders Classic are open now.
Free to enter. Registration is open for one week.
